Catedral. Libro de Piedra uses high-resolution photographic materials for becoming a virtual tour to the Cathedral of Santiago, its museum and the city of Santiago itself.

The project was launched in the Crypt of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The presentation was attended by the Regional Minister of Culture and Tourism, Roberto Varela, the General Secretary of Tourism, Carmen Pardo, the dean of the S.A.M.I. Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, José M ª Díaz Fernández and the CEO of Ilux Visual Technologies, Manuel Meijide.

Catedral. Libro de Piedra uses new technology to show Santiago de Compostela and its most emblematic monument, the Cathedral of Santiago, with an unprecedented level of detail. Proof of this is that, to carry out the project, has been taken more than 60,000 high resolution photographs.
This is a project that uses images with a level of detail so high that make it possible to discover, in a completely visual way, the history of the Cathedral of Santiago. It also includes information related to the item being viewed. |
Catedral. Libro de Piedra shows Galicia and its culture to the world, also becoming a very powerful visualization, inventoried and study of the elements of the Cathedral of Santiago tool.

FAIRS AND EXHIBITIONS
Because of its cultural and historical value, "Catedral. Libro de Piedra "has been exposed in the city of Ourense from November 24th 2010 to January 9th 2011 in the traveling exhibition" Loci Iacobi - Places of Santiago, Lieux de Saint Jacques ", a project developed with the support of the European Union in order to investigate, promote and stimulate tourism and culture around the St. James way as an itinerary of great historical value. |
In addition, the relevance of the project has been noticeable with its presence in the stand of the Xunta de Galicia in the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, FITUR, in January 2011. |

INTERACTIVE MULTITOUCH
Interactive 3D visualization of
the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela
This is a museum installation based on a multitouch system where the user interacts with his hands on the screen with a three-dimensional virtual model of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. At the same time the user can access to specific relevant information of elements of the basilica.
In a first approach, the user accesses to the environment and the old city of Santiago de Compostela in three dimensions locating it geographically as the place where different pilgrimage ways converge. |
From there the user can access to a detailed three-dimensional model of the cathedral where you can see the main building elements and stylistic details.
Through the interface the visitor interacts with its hands with the virtual model of the Cathedral, being able to explore it and analyze it by different methods such as zoom, pan, rotate and section in any plane in real time. |
MUNDO PEREGRINO
Tree-dimensional Virtual World Online
This is a three-dimensional virtual world dedicated to Santiago de Compostela as a centre of pilgrimage, bringing the user the experience of knowing and travelling along the different ways, alone or together with other users who share the same virtual space as avatars.
Mundo Peregrino consists of a welcome and learning area for new users, seven specific exhibition areas with reference to the different ways and a central area dedicated to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. |
To access to the world the user must first register on its website where he can download the client application that connects to the virtual world server to then select his nickname and avatar model. |
