The Exhibition

The exhibition displays the incredible range of props, costumes, jewellery, and weapons used in the mammoth movie epic. It showcases the film development process by showing the original artworks used to create sets through to final models, props and high tech digital innovations. The exhibition fully explores how The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy combines extraordinary craftsmanship with the latest computer technology.

The mannequins and showcases are decorated with exquisite costumes, armour and jewellery from the movies. Favourite costumes include Arwen´s wedding gown, Queen Galadriel´s stunning dress, and Gandalf´s white robes. Costumes include King Théoden´s armour, Aragorn, Legolas, Saruman´s costumes amongst many other from the cast. Visitors will be allowed to touch with their own hands some of the chain mail and weapons used in the films.

As well as computer-generated environments, many models were carefully constructed for the movie trilogy. Visitors will be able to see closely the incredible detail of some of the many miniature models used in the films, including Frodo´s vision of ruined Hobbiton, the Mumak, and the Towers of Orthanc and Barad-dûr, Sauron´s Fortress.

In order to make the visitors really feel like they are in Middle-earth, life-size representations of the more significative characters, like Treebeard bust, Gollum, or the corpse of Boromir lying on Lórien boat, were included.
